Palestinians in the West Bank: a zoom presentation by The Villages Group
Sunday, May 19, 2024 • 11 Iyyar 5784
12:00 PM - 1:00 PMPalestinians in the West Bank, especially those in the Israeli controlled Area C, are under great pressure to leave towns and villages that they have occupied for hundreds of years. They are constantly harassed and attacked by Israeli settlers and by the Israeli government and army.
The Villages Group is made up of Jewish Israelis who have been cooperating with and protecting and assisting Palestinians in the West Bank for many years. Erella Dunayevsky and Ehud Krinis from the group will describe their work with Palestinians and discuss the current situation on the West Bank.
Erella Dunayevsky trained in genetics and biochemistry at the Weizmann Institute and has devoted much of her life to bringing Israelis and Palestinians together. She recently published a Hebrew-language book Nitzav Domem ("Standing Still").
Ehud Krinis is a scholar of the Judeo-Arabic culture. His scholarly interests relate to the affinities and interactions between Judaism and Medieval Islam. In 2019 he was a visiting scholar at the Frankel Institute of Judaic Studies at the University of Michigan.
